FOOTBALL.

Owing to the wet condition of the ground the match between Helensville and Maoris was put off on Saturday last. The match between Glorit and Kaukapakapa at Glorit was also postponed on account of weather conditions. The postponement of the two games on Saturday last has caused a good deal of adverse continent, as quite a number of players are of the opinion that the games should have been played. So far as the Glorit team is concerned, the supporters of the team were put to a good deal of inconvenience over the matter. Kaukapakapa were to play on Glorit's ground, and the

residents of the district had gone ■wto a good deal of trouble preparing for the visitors' entertainThat the team would not > "~3rTive was not known until too -^lajajte to cancel arrangements, and the prospects of extending hospit- .- aiity and also of seeing a good game were lost to the Glorit people. This Saturday, Helensville were to visit Glorit, but at a Union meeting on Saturday evening last it was arranged to have a trial game at Helensville this Saturday. We understand that two trial games are to be played with a view to selecting a team to meet Maungaturoto. Thus the competitions will be suspended for three weeks at least. To our mind Glorit does not seem . to have had*a fair deal, as since the competitions commenced only one team —the Maoris —has visited there. The Glorit-ites are very keen, but it appears to us .. that if they pull out altogether from the competition (and there is a strong likelihood of this happening) the Kaipara Union will have to shoulder most of the blame.

Since the foregoing was written it is rumoured that the Maoris are considering withdrawing from the competition.
