A sawmiller states that ono main reason for the shortage of building timber is that sawmillers who are cutting matai, rirau, totara and whits pine, are con- % centrating on the latter tinibar for export to Australia, with the result that builders of homes have to go short. A very large shipment of timber left Auckland last Sunday, and many comments about the scarcity here were made by those who watched the vessel conveying the timber away from these shores.
