SOUTH HEAD ROAD
At the same meeting, the following letter was received from the Minister of Public Works, in connection with the construction of the above road : —
Chairman, Waitemata County Council: Sir, —You will recollect that you interviewed me along with Hon. C. J. Parr in January last regarding extending the formation of the South Head road to provide access to Crown Lands. I have made enquiries into the matter, and find that the Lands Department is at present surveying the Waioneke Kauri Gum preserve and extension blocks for settlement purposes and that an expenditure of approximately £500 will be required to continue the formation of the South Head road to the southern boundary of the Waioneke Block. As the roading proposals of the Lands Departmeat in respect to these two blocks are not yet complete, that Department is unable at present to authorise any money for the road, and I regret that the construction of the road will have to remain in abeyance until the Lands Department has completed its reading proposals.
