BIBLE IN SCHOOLS The following has been forwarded to is for publication: An interesting discussion arose at the nesting of the W.C.T.U. on Saturday at iVellinpton concerning Bible-in-schools. vlrs Crabb explained that one half-hour veekly was allowed by statute for Bible caching, provided the school was open or twenty-four hours a week. Mrs Peryman emphasised the importance of ielecting school committees, and said hat as the next election would be in Vpril, all those interested should endeav>ur to find persons in favour of this halflour being used, and should set to work ;o ensure their election. She mentioned -he great interest manifested at Port Jbalmers, where an effort was made to javo such instruction given. Crowds of j )eople turned up to vote, and the. Bible-n-schools " ticket " was completely successful. Bible lessons were instituted, md the children received them gladly md with marked interest. Mrs A. RA.tkinson paid a tribute to the work of Lhe Presbyterian Church, which availed itself of the half-hour in over 300 schools, working on the Nelson system. One or two speakers thought that some committees put difficulties in the way of Bible teaching, even if carried out under rule, but it was again urged that attention should be specially paid to the personnel committees.
