PROPOSED RABBIT BOARD
A representative meeting of farmers 1 was held in the Farmers' Union office on " Monday morning lasf&to discuss the pro- ** posed formation of a Rabbif Board, Particulars of the procedure to be adopt- " ed were put before the meeting? and ,a ; long discussion ensue* on the proposals A good deal of opposition to the forma- ■ tion was met with, chiefly from land owners on the fiat, whose properties ace " not affected by the rabbit pest, and who could not see the force of being rated for =-,■ rabbit prevention. It was finally decided that the proposal be abandoned, and a ■ motion to that effect was carried. -~. *
Another matter discussed by the .meeting was in connection with the cattle ' tick regulation, and the construction of * dips. The meeting was of the opinion * that the information re the cattle tick '" available from the Stock Department was not adequate enough, and decided that no "action be taken locally in the 3 " matter. <»-
