The social arranged by St. Matthew's Ladies' Guild on Thursday evening last was well attended, and proved as enjoyable as any the Guild have held. In the auchre tournament prizes were won by Mrs Farrell and Mr Claridge, and, the least efficient scqrers, Mrs Williams and Mr E. Nqya were awarded consolation prizes. An excellent supper was provided Dancing was kept up until well after midnight, both the floor and music being excellent for this pa.st-in.3e. The Catholic social in the Agricultural Hall qn Monday evening, in support of t|ie Parakai queen, was well attended and proved m,qst enjoyable, The euchre tuurnainent was keenly contested, and first prices were awarded Mrs Channon and Mr Cullen (who won on a cut after tieing with two other players). Suitable consolation prizes were awarded to Mrs Mrs bnell and Mr V. Aitkenhead. During the evening Mr Noon rendered a couple of songs which greatly pleased the audience.
