The following were present at the November meeting of the executive of the above, at Helensville :—Messrs O. B. j Snelling (chair), J. Grey (Helensville), .j. Morrison junr. (Kaipara Flats), Jas. Trewin (Marohemo), J. R. MacFarquar (Waimauku), J. C. Wyatt F. S. Boler (Tauhoa), G. H. Wilson (Wellsford) W. G. Witheford (Wharehine). Apologies were received from Messrs G. E. Thompson (Port Albert), W. Messanna (Te Hana), A. J. Campbell Matakana). —Government Department Replies— Re Meat Export Licenses —Reply from Commissioner of Taxes stating that all freezing companies and meat export companies pay income tax on whatever profits they made in New Zealand. The secretary was instructed to ask the Minister for Agriculture if meat export licenses had been issued to Whangarei and Westfield freeing works, and W. and R. Fletcher Ltd.—MacFarquar—Trewin, Re Vet. Surgeon for Rodney County to be resident at Wellsford —Mr J. Lyons Diet. Super., wrote regretting supply of veterinarians is not equal to demand, making it impossible to accede to the request. An extra man is being put on in Auckland, and a considerable amount of his time will be spent in Rodney County.—The secretary was instructed to write to the Superintendent, asking for consideration, and pointing out that Auckland is so far away from this district that in many cases cattle die before a veterinary surgeon can .be secured.—Wyatt, Trewin. Re Lectures to Farmers on Veterinary Science —The secretary stated that he had received a telegram from Mr Lyons D.S., stating that Mr Burton would be available to give lectures on veterinary science, commencing with N. Wairoa district on December 8, and Kaipara district early in January.—Arrangements left with the secretary. Re Number of Passengers carried on Kaipara Line.—Secretary stated he had written to the Minister of Railways requesting this information, with a view to securing a more up-to-date service. The Minister replied that to give this information would involve dissection of Department's accounts, tor which staff is not available. Re Cottage Hospital at Helensville— Reply received from Mr F. Dye, stating he would lay the matter before the Board I at next meeting.—Communications had j also been- sent to Waitemata County ! Council, but no reply received. The .secretary was requested to communicate i with the Hospital Board, requesting that j steps be taken to provide this very necessary institution.— Snelling, MacFarquar. —Prov Executive Replies— ' Remit 114 (Tauhoa)—Re motor jigger at Helensville for doctors. Reply that matter was being place before Railway authorities.—Received. Remit 123 (Helensville)—Re MrHiley's scheme for railway through Hobsonville to Helensville. The Executive thought it would be inadvisable to divert money from main lines to deviations.—Moved by Mr MacFarquar, seconded by Mr Trewin, " That we write to the Railway Department requesting them to push o\\ Mr Hiley's scheme of railway via Hobsonville to Helensville." Remit -referred to A, P, Executive and Education Department, Instances were given of two schools, one of £8 and one of 31 pupils, situated a few miles apart, both half-time, which method the Executive considered altogether obsolete.—-Mac-Farquar, Snelling. Remit 162, Wellsford, amended, now reads —That secretaries of all branches of Kaipara Sub-Provincial District be admitted to the farmers' Union as free honorary members. Remit 175 (all branches; —That this Sub-Provincial District make application to the Agricultural Department for a soil survey of the branch districts under the scheme as suggested on page 331 June number Journal of Agriculture.— Referred to Department of Agriculture —Trewin, Wyatt. Remit 167, Port Albert—That the Railway Department instruct, its officers to stop cars at railway platforms, so that passengers can conveniently alight from and board trains. (Instances can be recorded where trains arriving at stations on the Kaipara line have had the cars run past the platform, causing inconvenience to the travelling public particularly women and children). —Referred to District Traffic Manager.— Wilson, Trewin. Remit 177, Puhoi —That in view of the inconvenience caused by goods having to be left lying out in the open, this branch urgently requests that a goods sheds and loading bank be erected at Tahekeroa and other similar railway stations on the Kaipara line.—Referred to District Traffic Manager.—Boler, Morrison. Remit 181, Wellsford—That the Wellsford Branch has been approached by several school committees to urge upon the Sub-Provincial Executive to use their influence to have a High School established at Wellsford. —Referred back to Wellsford for definite information as to probable number of scholars the district could guarantee'.—Boler, Grey. —Cattle Tick Regulations— On the motion of Messrs Wilson and Trewin, it was resolved, unanimously, that in consideration of the inconvenience to stock holders caused by the new regulations, the Department be requested to station two additional inspectors in the district, and suggests Helensville and Maungaturoto as being most suitable centres. —Railway Charges— Re charges for agricultural lime -on railway—That the Government be requested to make a nominal flat rate charge for the carriage of lime for alj districts, instead of free for one hundred miles, on the same principle as fruit is carried, with the minimum quantity as at present.—Wyatt, Trewin, —Lime Analysis Moved by Mr Trewin, seconded by Mr Wilson, that this Executive requests the Government to make an analysis of agricultural lime offered for sale. —Purchase ot' Farms for Soldiers — Moved by Mr Grey, seconded by Mr Snelling, that the secretary be instructed to write to the Land Settlement Board requesting them to speed up the settlement of soldiers on fa rms passed by the Auckland Land Board.—lnstances were given where land had been passed months ago by the AncklandLand Board and no settlement had yet been arrived at, thus causing great inconvenience both to buyer and seller, particularly to dairy farmers. —Trains on Race Days— On the motion of Messrs Wilson and Trewin, it was decided—That this Executive requests the District Traffic Manager of N.Z. Railway that when making time-tables for race days he should make provision so that the schedule time-table of the Kaipara trains should not be interfered with, as was the case on, April 2£jth and May J}ist. j Date of next meeting was left to the president and sectetary, and suggested early in .January.
