DOMAIN BOARD.
USUAL MEETING
The monthly meeting of the above was held after the Town Board meeting on Thursday last. In the absence of the chairman (Mr Jas. Stewart), Ci* Aitkenhead presided, and the following were present: Commissioners C. West, W. Coutts,. H.Thompson, T. D. Johnson, Jas. McLeod, and the Secretary. MINUTES Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE Outward correspondence was dealt with and approved. IMPROVEMENTS. The committee which visited the Springs on a recent Sunday reported that the new concrete floor in the main building was just on completion, and a good job has been made of same. The committee recommended whitewashing the structure housing the swimming bath, the provision of a couple of chutes fo.r bath, new taps for the various springs pipes, and efficient drainage for the waste water coming from springs. Some of this work has been completed. CARETAKER. The resignation of the caretaker, Mr Cormack, was received. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Cr. Coutts, it was decided to call applications for the position of caretaker and gardener, at a wage of £3 10? per week and free house. It was decided to advertise in the Kaipara ECHO and the Auckland papers. ACCOUNTS The receipts for ten months of the current year, the secretary reported, with the best two months still to come, showed a gratifying improvement on the twelve months of last year, being over £50 in excess. As a result of some discussion in connection with the payment of wages, etc., characterised as extraordinary by members, it was decided that the secretary |go out to the Springs and investigate the accounts. LIGHTING. Cr. Aitkenhead advocated the installation of a lighting plant at the Springs, as a temporary measure until the electric light scheme was installed. Lighting was very badly needed throughout the domain, and he considered a Delco plant would fulfil all requirements for the present. Other members were of the opinion that immediate lighting of the Domain was advisable, but considered the outlay involved was too heavy. BATH IMPROVEMENTS. A long letter was received from Mr C, BrackHm?h, masseur, in which a uitm!>c-i% of suggestions for improvements to the baths ! and building-; were made, Members were of the opinion that the majority of the improvements suggested by Mr Brackebush were necessary. Further consideration of this matter was held over till a future meeting.
A committee consisting of Crs. Aitkenhead, Johnson, and Coutts was appointed to go out and report on the present condition of the baths. DONATION. A donation of £4 ss, procoods of a concert in the Parakai Hall on Labour night, was received per Mr Aitkenhead, and will be utilised for the purchase of further seating for the Domain. OFFICIAL OPENING. Suggestions to have an official opening of the Domain bowling greens were made, and after discussion it was decided that the official opening take plaoe on Saturday next Particulars will he found elsewhere in this issue.
