The.Fields Instruction Branchi—Drainage, cultivation where practicable, and the free use of lime are the best means of ridding ground of pennyroyal. As the plant does not root deeply, skim-plough-ing and allowing the land to fallow for a time, especially in hot weather, will be found of service. There are various sprays advertised, but none of these can be said to be effective. The plant is apparently killed, but generally coraes up as strong eve.r. Vhe following season^ Good results fyave been obtaine4 by applying l^eayy dressings qf §alt. Tb,is njethqd attracts s^ock. Th,eir licking and tramping the ground tends to ch.eck and destrby the plant- It is suggested a sowing of one qf tb^e Lotus: family, W^icbr does well ii^ yqur diairic^ wqul4 orove helpful b,y. acting as a smotheringr plant for the wqed. Lqtus angustissimus wo^ld be'tlie best;, as it throws a con : Bicjerable, amqv}nt qf fopage, and stock are fond qf it. In sjome instances this method. has been heneficial,
