Association, on Monday evening, eulogistic remarks were made by members regarding the president's good work in the interests of the Association. Mr Rimmer agreed to re-election for another period, and was loudly applauded.
A large wagon load of empty barrels left Helensville for Riverhead on Tuesday last, in charge of Messrs Hunter Bros. From there they will go by water to Auckland independent of the railways. During the week empty railway trucks galore have passed through Helensville, but the Department don't want consignments of any description !
Returned soldiers and others interested, to the number of twenty, proceeded up the river in the Tuirangi to inspect Parker's Estate on Saturday last. This estate, which is under offer to Kaipara branch of the R.S.A for a soldier settlement, is considered very suitable for such settlement by the majority of those who inspected the property. A report on the inspection will be furnished to the local branch at a future meeting.
Attention is drawn to the euchre atid dance to be held by the Catholic community on Monday evening next. These gatherings are always popular, and the prizes given f©r the euchre are well worth trying for. The social will take place in the Agricultural Hall, where the floor is usually very gooJ for dancing, and a good attendance is hoped for. We wish to acknowledge press tickets from the committee.
The announcement that the Kennedy group of instrumentalists, vocalists and humorists will appear in HeUnsville next Thursday, after an absence of five /ears, will be welcome news to all who have witnessed the company's attractive entertainment. Headed by Keith Kennedy, a brilliant young violinat, the Company also includes two cleter Scotch humorists, Jennie and Ad Cree, Miss Bronwen Fairhill, soprano, and Miss Mimmie Boardjieff, balladist. There will be a double programme at the Lyric on Friday evening. In addition to the pictures the public will have the opportunity of hearing the Musical Carsons, bell-ringers, vocalists, musicians and Russian dancers. The greatest novelty in the Carson's show is the giant mirrimbophone band, the largest zlophsne in the world. Bell ringing on all kinds of bells will be heard, and Fred Carson, a descriptive singer of note is also on the bill. Mavis Carson, the world's leading zlophonist, is a show in herself. The prices are 2s and Is, children half-price.
A word of explanation is necessary in regard to the non-appearance of a description of the dresses worn at the Ball on Thursday evening last. Arrangements were made to secure a complete list, but the task was rightly admitted to be a difficult one by the ladies who kindly volunteered assistance. A scheme whereby every lady present was afforded the opportunity.of giving a description of her dress was not fully availed of, and the list subsequently handed in to this office was far from complete—about a third of the dresses being secured. We wish to thank all who gave assistance and furnished descriptions,' and regret that under the circunrstanses a complete list could not be secured.
