The death took pla'pe at Parakakau last week of Mr Dave Eagleton, at the age of 56. The deceased was for manyyears an employee of the Auckland Gas Co., and was for some time president of the Trades and Labour Council. Private Dave Eagleton, a son of deceased, onlyreturned from the front three weeks ago. Tl}e interment took place at the Wainui cemetery qn Saturday last. Rev. F. C. Pace officiating at the gßavesjde.
On Monday last, Mrs Qawson, a very old resident ot Kaukapakapa, attained her 91st birthday, A few friends called in and held a surprise evening, a very ... enjoyable time being spent. Mrs Daweon-j js truly a link with the past, and has "' some very interesting experiences to relate anent the good (and hard) old days.
A welcome home social was extended to Corporal W. Stevens and Private Dormer, in the Kaukapakapa Hall on Friday evening last, when a large gathering turned out to welcome these boys, who are both very popular throughout the district. Musical items, dancing and supper helped those present to spend an enjoyable time.
