A. large gathering assembled in the Kauka^akapa Hall on Sunday morriilig for a united Peace Thanksgiving service. Owing to other engagements the Revs. Venablesfand Butterworth were unable ti> be present, but their places were taken by Messrs Snelling and Jones. The service was conducted by Rev. Pace, who spoke to the children and adults frbm 1 Cor. 15: "Thanks be to God who giveth us the victory,", and said that the dominant" note of all our rejoicings for peace should be that of thankfulness to God whose power had made victory possible. During the address a plea for greater union amongst all men was made, and especially between the various churches. It is hoped that especially in this connection the remarks made will bring forth good fruit. During the service Mr. Jones led in prayer, whilst Mr Snelling read the lessons. Before the address Miss Fewell feelingly sang " Nearer my God toThee."
