A BOON TO LOCAL FARMERS

SPECIAL FARM SCHOOL

AT RUAKURA GOVERNMENT FARM FROM 21st TO 26th JULY.

By authority of the Minister for Agri-^IP culture and the Director General of Agriculture, a special course of lectures demonstrations, under the Farmers' Union organisation, is being arranged to be held at Ruakura during the week being 21st July.

The lectures and demonstrations will be given by officials of the Department of Agriculture, assisted by the Education Board's instructors in agriculture.

These lectures and demonstrations will deal with such subjects as soils and soil cultivation; forage, fodder and root crops; manures; dairy scienc* ; oil engines ; motor tractors ; dairy machinery ; drainage ; farm implements ; trees and shelter belts ; seed selection ; dairy cows ; poultry ; bees ; orchard \vork ; wool classing ; pig breeding and management ; fencing.

Sixty farmers will be permitted to attend under the following conditions : —

1. No allowance to be made by 'the Education Board towards transit expenses or board and loeging.

2. No fees to be charged

3. No person will be permitted to attend except on condition that regular attendance at lectures and demonstrations is made throughout the week.

Accommodation at Ruakura. —If any wish to reside on the Farm during the week, they must at once inform the Supervisor, Ecucation Board. Accommodation can be found for 30 persons. There is also hotel and boarding house accommodation at Hamilton, two miles from Ruakura.

A time-table will be supplied to each farmer, and attendance at certain lectures, etc., will be compulsory. For the most part, however, each farmer will be permitted to select those he wishes to attend.
