HE FELL RIGHT IN !

Emile Brinkoff, charged at the local Police Court with attempting to evade payment of his tram fare, is probably now engaged in kicking himself hard. If he isn't he ought to be. When asked for his ticket by a ticketinspector Emile said he had a pass. Asked to produce it, he hunted in all his pockets and then remarked that he must have left it in his other clothes. The traffic-manager happened to be on the car, and the matter being reported to him Brinkoff explained that his real name was Robinson and that he lived at Mt. Eden. A constable was then summoned when Brinkoff, alias Robinson, admitted that he had no pass. "The pass was only kid stakes." He was fined 40 - and 46/-costs—£4 6s. He'd have found it come cheaper if he'd paid his fare.
