The attention of sportmen is directed to the various trespass notices in this issue. The annual meeting of the parishioner* of St. Matthew's Church, Helensrille, will be held on Sunday evening, Majr 4. A public meeting will be held in the Lyric Theatre to-night (Thursday) to consider proposals and preparations for peace celebrations. A meeting will be held on Saturday next in the Kaukapalcapa Hall, with a view to forming a Men's Social Club in that district. A meeting of ratepayers will be held on Mdnday, 12th May, to consider the electric lighting scheme. The Rev. W. Broom, who has for «ome time been in charge of the HelensTille Methodist Circuit, has left to take up his duties at Te Kuiti, and has been replaced by the Rev. Pace oftheßajof Islands.

Judging b/ the large number of sporting dogi coming up from Auckland by train daily, game ia going to hare a rough time of it this season. Shooting seaion opens to-day.

A contemporary states., that when parcels of literature were delivered from the Post Office to the organiser of the Nelson Prohibition League it was found that a large portion of it was soaked with whisky.

The Helensville Golf Club hold their annual general meeting on Tuesday next in the Lyric Supper Room at 7.30 p.m. All members and intending members are invited to attend.

Anzac Day was observed in Helensville as a close holiday. A Memorial Service, at which addresses were gives, was held in the Lyric Theatre in the afternoon. A collection for the assistance of the Memorial Fund was taken up, and amounted to £6/6/7.

On Saturday last the Church of Christ Sunday School children held their annu»i picnic in Mr S. Qeldaid's paddock. The weather was delightful, and the youngsters enjoyed themselves immensely with plenty of racing and other amusements. Ifeedless to say the refreshments had a bad time in the hands ot the juveniles.

The b.b Ruawai \v«is considerably delayed in ' arriving at Helensville on Wednesday morning last, owing to the heavy fog on the River, consequently the large number of passengers missed the first train to Auckland. But the Railway Department put a car on the goods train leaving at 10 a.m., and the passengers were able to get away 2)4 hours earlier than anticipated.

" The Atenging Trail," the star picture at the Lyric on Saturday night, is still another Harold Lockwood success. He portrays a character somewhat different from those he ha 6 given us lately. He is a lumberjack amid the rough surroundings of a big timber camp. The picture is a fine combination of story, scenic beauty, and the actor's ability and personality.
