THE UNWELCOME HUN.
There was quite an interesting discussion g,t the last meeting of the Mount Eden Borough Council regarding interned aliens, It arose owing to a request by Devonport Borough Counoii that the Mount Eden Council would supnort a resolution passed; by the Wrmer urging' the'!.GWer'riment to repatriate all .inte.vVed aliens. .Mr Shackleford; moved that -the Mt: Eden. Council heartily support the action of the Devon port Council. But the Mayor of Mt. Eclen objected. He said it was ridiculous that the Government should be dictated to by Borough Councils. It was the duty of th* Government to
act in this matter without interference from local Joodies. He moved that the Devonport Council's letter bo .. received. The amendment fell flat, and the" motion was approved by everybody present bar the Mayor. 6f course, asMr Hudson says, it is the duty*' of the Government to take the initiative in this matter. B.ut unfortunately they do not appear to be taking it.
