It has been suggested by an Aucklander that Guy Fawkes' Day sbould be abolished, and that in place thereof a "Kaiser Bill Day " should be instituted, "say on August 4th, of each year, on which day the effigy of the greatest criminal that ever disgraced the earth should be tarred, feathered, and burned." I think the notion is an excellent one. Guy Fawkes was certainly far from an estimable character, but bad as he was he was an angel of light compared with the arch-villian who has destroyed millions of lives and deluged the earth with blood. A '' Kaiser Bill Day," by all means !
