THE DEBT WE OWE.
DISABILITIES OF LIMBLESS
SOLDIERS
The disabilities of limbless soldiers were discussed at last week's meeting of the Returned Soldiers' Association, Wellington, and it was decided to set up a committee of limbless men to go fully into the matter of their grievances and confer with a committee of the Association, with a view to having them brought before the proper authorities. During the discussion one returned soldier referred to the treatment meted out to limbless soldiers by the general public in the trams, etc. They found it impossible to get seats at times, and the people did not seem to feel it their duty to -maka it easier for them. It was pointed out that when they were travelling on sections where they were known room was made for them, but not when they were travelling casually about town. A man who had lest a leg at the front said that he had come down from Buckle- Street to attend that meeting and had had to be a strap-hanger all the way.
