At a meeting held here the question of forming a Ratepayers' Association was brought forward After discussion it was decided to hold the matter in abeyance pending the receipt of further information,
The same meeting also considered the advisability of forming a branoh of the Waitemata Railway League, A committee, consisting of Messrs Dye, Downe, and Roller, was appointed, to get as full particulars as pqssible, and tq report to a future meeting,
A good deal of interest is taken locally in the matter of rating on unimproved values, and at a recent meeting of ratepayers the subject was well debated, both friends and opponents bringing forward strong arguments. \t was finally decided to appoint a committee, consisting of Messrs Diprose, Cole, Kinlock, Sinclair, and Bellini, to take such steps as may be necessary to obtain a poll on the question.
The la.st few meetings, of the farmers' Union have been well attended, the appointment of ah organising secretary having infused new life into the Union. About 90 per cent of the farmers belong tq this body,
The Anglican Ghuroh, having purchased a ohurch at Kaipara Flats, has had it removed to this district. The work of re-erection is being hurried on, in order to have the building ready for Easter services.
The new classroom which the Methodist Church has long worked for, is now ready for use' The Chairman of the District Synod is expected to open it within a week or two.
After a comparative drought of some weeks, Saturday night's ra?n was very welcome. It freshened up the feed, and will give turnips and young grass a. much needed filip.
