MARKET REPORT
Mr J. Jones, Auctioneer, New City Market, Auckland, report as follows : — The potato market has been heavily supplied and values are are lower. The export being prohibited has caused buyers to hold off. Fruit came forward in heavy supply and prices ruled satisfactorily. Poultry pens heavily supplied and very good rates for good birds. Pig market steady. POULTRY (3400 penned) Hens, prime 3s 6d to 4s, good 3s to 3s 4d, small and light 2s to 2s 5d ; ducks 2s to 4s ; roosters, prime up to 6s 7d, good 4s 6d to ss, cockrells Is 6d to 2s ; turkeys 9s to 12s 6d, hens 4s 6d to 6s. FARM PRODUCE Potatoes, prime £6 to £7, good £6, inferior £4 ; onions 10s 6d. Pigs : weanors 18s to £1 ss. DAIRY PRODUCE Butter Is Id, eggs 2s, cheese lid, hams and sides Is 2d. FRUIT Apples, dessert 4s 6d to 8s 3d. cookers 4s to 6s; passion fruit 6s; grapes Is 2d ; tomatoes 4s to 6s ; plums 3:s to 4s ; peaches 2s to 6s 5d ; pears 5s to 7s 8d ; lemons 18s, GRAIN Maize 7s 6d, wheat 7s to 7s 6d, oats 5s 6d to 7s, bran 8s 6d, sharps 10s, local chaff £6 10s to £7.
