BOWLING.

AWAROA BOWLING CLUB.

On Christinas Day two teams from the Awaroa Club visited Ponsonby. Messrs C. Sandin, Chnrtable, Rimmer, Hammond (wi} 12 y, Good, Bray, Brown, Pelftam (skip) 27. Mowatt, Cormack, Cullen, Smith (skip) 17 v. Jones, Brophy, Inglis, McLeod (skip) 25.

During the holidays a number bowlers have visited Springs and have had some very nice games on the Awaroa green. On Saturday. December 28th, two full rinks were arranged, but owing to the wet two three Sided games were 'played. Awaroa won one, 14 to Jjl, and lost one, 7 to 16. On Saturday, January 4th, two full rinks were played. Messrs Constable, Screaton, Cormack. G-arry (skip) 28 v Goad, Jones, Harrison, Donaldson (skip) 12. Hunt, Sandin, Aitkenhead, Smith (skip) 28 v Hall, O'Leary, Bridge, Blair (skip) 9.

The visitors congratulated- the Club on their excellent green which they said was second to none in the Dominion. Afternoon tea on both occasions was dispensed by Mrs,Easton in her customary good style and was appreciated by all.

The final of a series of interesting games was played yesterday, when two full rinks came from Parakai, but the weather was most unfavourable. Awaroa lost both games and with the same each, 26—16.

Now that the war is over it is to be hoped more of our local business people will take an active interest in one of Helensville's best assets.

During the last few days the Club has '-■• made four new members.

Mr A., Bishop has donated a trophy to be played for, and this will be gone on with immediately. It is proposed to take the form of a sealed handicap singles; entrance Is.

Two teams are expected from Maungaturoto on Saturday week.
