Helensville, in common with most of towns in the North Island, is having a tasta of what it would be like under National Prohibition. The Public Service, Senior National Scholarship, Intermediate and Junior National Scholarship •laminations have been postponed indefinitely. To assist in checking the epidemic all Banks are closed, and will not re-open ■ until Wednesday, November 27. All hairdrefsing saloons have been closed, and it is now a case of ehave yourself and cut your own hair—it is to be hoped tbere will be no accidents. Mr William Wallace, Chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board, has arranged with Mr Stewart to visit Helensville at an early date to discuss the question of a | permanent public hospital. A reward of £5 is offered to any person giving information that will lead to the conviction of any persons removing fireI wood from Mr S. J. Frost's property at ' Pipitiwai. The Helensville Presbyterian service on Sunday next will be held at 6 p.m. in the grounds adjoining the Church (weather permitting). Memorial service for the late Mr Andrew Nuttall. The public are requested to note that visitors to the temporary hospital are not allowed, and to minimise the work of the matron, hours of enquiry on the telephone are from 9 to 10 a.m and 6 to 7 p.m. Open-air peace thanksgiving servica was held in the Helensville Presbyterian Church grounds on Sunday last at 11 a.m., and the speaker, Rev. Win. Butterworth, gare a splendid address. Great interest has been taken in the A. and P. Association's Milk Test Competition which took place this week. Numerous entries were received, and the contest should prove a very keen one. On account of Mr A. J. Garry, manager Kaipara Dairy Factory, being out of town the results will not be known till Saturday next. Dr. Mainhold't Hospital has been temporarily taken over in tha iterests of •ha Auckland Hospital Board and the Eealth Department to more efficiently tealt with the worst cases resulting k>m the epidemic. Those willing to ssist in any way are asked to hand in ireir names to the Chairman of the ibwn Board. Donations of fruit, milk Jgg«, vegetables, etc., will be much appreciated. At the instigation of the Helansville Town Board, the Health Department has ont Mr Sheppard, Inspector under the )epartment, with inhalation plant, which has been set up at the Railway Station. All passenger* passing to or 1 from Helensville are ordered to pass through this inhalation room for the purpose of disinfection, The Police are instructed to see that this it carried out. The chamber is also available for local persons. People ara asked to co-operate in this effort to stamp out the epidemic. I While the inspector is in Helensville he is making a thorough inspection of all business premises and residences.
