A CORRECTION.
To the Editor. Sir, —In your report of the meeting of the New Zealand Farmers' Union Kaipara Sub-Provincial the followiug appeared : " Cattle Tick Conference—Mr Jas. McLeod reported that ho had attended this Conference, and he said tne Conference desired to declare the country north of Westfield an infected country." I wish to point out that the above statement is not correct. What I stated was that the Stock Department's proposal was that the whole of the country from Westfield to the North Cape should be declared an infected district. I also stated that I was representing the several branches of the Farmers' Union from Henderson north to Maungaturoto and across to the Wairoa, and that all that district strongly protested against any restriction as all that country was clean. It was then "proposed and carried that the Stock Department's proposal stand in abeyance for six months, and in the meantime any inform ation that could be procured be forwarded to the Department. You also report me as having attended the Seedy Wool Conference, J but such is not the case, as I was not there.—l am, etc., James ' McLeod. 1
