HELENSVILLE TOWN BOARD.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10th,
PRESENT
Comrs. J. Stewart (chairman), Jas. McLeod, T. D. Johnson, W. Coutts, C. West, H. Thompson, and the clerk (Mr W. F. Raisher).
The Chairman apologised for the absence of Com. Aitkenhead,
MINUTES Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
CORRESPONDENCE
Outward correspondence was confirmed.
Letter from the Belgian Fund was read and received.
Letter from the Waterworks Engineer was referred to the Water and Drainage Committee.
LICENSE GRANTED
Application from Mr Tucker for a renewal of billiard saloon license was granted.
LETTER FROM FISHERMEN'S UNION
Proposed by Com. McLeod and seconded by Com. Johnson—That £1 Is be donated to the Commission Fund, and that the matter be referred to the Government for consideration.
COMPLETION OF SURVEY
Com. McLeod proposed and the Chairman seconded — That the survey of the Horseshoe he completed as soon as possible.
DRAINAGE CONNECTION GRANTED
A letter was read from Dr. Hughes re the A. and P. Society's connection with the drainage. On the motion of the Chairman,' seconded by Com. Thompson, it was decided that the application be granted.
FIRE BRIGADE STATION
The Chairman proposed and Com. Coutts seconded—That Mr B. Becroft be asked to prepare specifications for the Fire Brigade station, and that the Clerk call for tenders to be in by the next meeting".
FISHERMEN'S WHARF
A report on the Fishermen's Wharf from Corns. Coutts and Johnson was read. On the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Com. Thompson, it was resolved —That the ordering of the necessary timber be left in the hands of Mr Coutts.
Water for Wharf.—Proposed by Com. McLeod, seconded by the Chairman—That the Water and Drainage Committee be empowered to deal with the matter with the fishermen.
CEMETERY
On the motion of the Chairman seconded by Com. McLeod, it was resolved—That the Road Committee be given authority to have the trees cleared and the fence removad.
Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Com. Thompson— That the occupied portions of the burial ground be kept in order by the Board's employees.
TAR WANTED
The Chairman proposed and Com. Coutts seconded — That prices be obtained for 50 barrels of tar delivered as required.
TENDERS
Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Com. West—That tenders for 30yds of shingle be called for.
CATTLE TRAFFIC
Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Com. Coutts—That a letter be sent to the Minister of Public Works re cattle traffic.
