TOWN BOARD MATTERS.
To the Editor.
SIR, —In reply to the letter under the signature of " Ratepayer," which appeared in your issue of August 22nd., the work done by the surfacemen was wholly on Town Board property. The footpath in question was the last of footpath work authorised at the ordinary monthly meeting of the Board some months since. In work of this description it is usual for th« surfacemen to use their own discretion, and they did not do any work on any private property ; the bank in question is within the boundaries of Commercial Road.—l am, etc.,
J. F. Lambert, Chairman, HelensTille Town Board. Helensville, sth Sept., 1918. [Received too late for publication in las t issue. ]
