MESSRS J. J. Jones, Auctioneers, City Market, Auckland, report as follows : — lAtfthe week ended 31st AugWfe' the produce trade was fairly good and all lines are firm. Potatoes have been arriving in heavier supplies, therefore the market shows a slight easing. Values are not likely to ease much as the shipping has a great effect on prices. We had an exceptionally heavy supply of poultry, and for good kill able birds very satisfactory rates ruled. Pigs are selling very well •and are in strong demand. The ■ grain market it? firm. Seed j potatoes are in strong demand. Buyers will not accept any lines but Southern grown seed. POULTRY Hens, prime 4s to 5s Id, good ! 3s 3d to 3 lOd, ordinary 3s to 3s 3d; roosters, prime up to 6s 4d, good ss, smaller 2s 6d to 3s 9d; ducks, 2s 6d to 3s sd; turkeys, gobblers 8s 9d to 13s, hens 6s to 6s 5d ; geese, 6s ; chickens, 6d to Is each; ducklings, Is to Is 5d each. Pigs, 15s 6d to £1 12s 6d ; stores, £1 15s to £2 15s. FARM PRODUCE Potatoes, Southern table £13 10s to £15, Southern seed £9 10s to £11; onions, prime 30s to 335, good 20s to 255; swedes, £4; kumeras, £7 10s to £8 10s; pumpkins, £8 10s to £9. DAIRY PRODUCE . Butter, Is Id to Is 2d; eggs, Issd; cheese lid; hams, Is 2d ; sides, Is 2d ; honey, sdto 6d lb. FRUIT Apples, dessert 8s 6d to 14s 6d, cookers 8s 9d to lls 6d; lemons, prime 8s to 9s 6d; poor man's oranges, 7s 6d to 10s 6d.
