MARKET REPORT.
MESSRS J. J. Jones, Auctioneers, City Market, Auckland, report as follows : —
The market this week has been short in most lines. Potatoes since last report have firmed considerably and stocks in Auckland are very low. Onions, although the price is high sales are now heavy. Buyers now prefer the Melbourne which are landing in first-class condition. Poultry came forward in large numbers. We quote : — . POULTRY Hens, prime heavy 4s to ss, good 3s 6d to 3s lid; ducks, Indian Runners 3s to 3s 9d, heavy breeds 4s to 4s lid; turkeys, gobblers 8s to 13s, hens 4s 6d to 7s ; roosters, prime 5s ?to 5s 9d, good 4s to 4s 9d, small 3s to 4s. FARM PRODUCE Potatoes, Southern table £3 10s to £15, local £9, Southern seed all varieties £9 to £12 ; kumeras, £8 10s to £9 ss; pumpkins, £6 10s to £8; swedes, £4. FRUIT Apples, dessert 4s 6d to 8s 6d, cookers ss. 6d to19s; lemons, 7s to 8s ,6d ; P.M. oranges, 7s. GRAIN Wheat, 7s 9d ; oates, feed 6s, Algerian seed 6s 6d ; bran 8s 9d-; sharps, 10s 6d ; barley, 6s 9d to 7s 6d ; chaff, Southern £14 10s, local £10 10s to £12 10s.
