WAITEMATA COUNTY COUNCIL

To the Editor.

Sir,—Would you please allow me apace to reply to Mr Aifckenhead's letter of July 18th. Referring to me he state : "I do not intend to be led into any controversy or any further newspaper correspondence with that gentleman over Council affairs at present juncture." If such is the case why has he gone on writing on County matters and thrown out insinuations. My reply is if Mr Wright's report could be handed to the Eden Gazette for publication it could also have been handed to the ECHO, and it is no use Mr Aitkenhead quibbling. In the last paragraph of his letter he practically admits my contention by asking you, Mr Editor, to publish the proceedings of the Council. But how can you, sir, publish a report that is taken in committee unless it is handed to you as was the caae with the Eden Gazette.—l am, etc.,

James McLeod. Helensville, July 25th, 1918.
