PATRIOTIC LEAGUE.
HELENSVILLE BRANCH. I ANNUAL MEETING. \ ■ I THE second annual meeting of 1 the Helensville branch of, the I Auckland Women's Patriotic . I League was held jon Tuesday, ~J July 2nd., Mrs Oxley presiding. - - "I The annual report and balance^^B sheet were read and adoptejk-v-4|^M Work has been going dtt^H steadily during the past ye^^^H and parcels have been /^l^^H warded to the Town Hall ever^^H month. Members have &^^H worked very hard to make so^H satisfactory a report, which ineluded 381 pairs of socks sent, to the Town Hall, 21 pairs givefi to l departing soldiers, 29 balaclavas, 12 pair mittens, and one scarfe. The girls of Helensville School have made 82 khaki handkerchiefs, also a good number of socks, very nicely knitted. 92 . articles of clothing have been sent for soldiers' dependants and j j one large parcel of new clothing ,: for French refugees, and one case - ,', jams, jellies, and cakes and one \ sack of vegetables for our week- L>" end at Red Cross shop in Auck- . f * land. 207 books and magazines ' have also been forwarded for use *< on transports and in hospitals. j We have als#; collected and j placed under separate account I £69 11s for our lotah-Memorial I Fund. ~m The officsrs elected were as j 'm follows :— ■ President—Mrs Oxley. ,'ifl Vice - Presidents — Mesdames xm Becroft and Ellett. *M Treasurer —Mrs Wilson, 'J| Secretary—Mrs Lambert. The meeting concluded with '38 hearty votes of thanks to Mrs "tfi Becroft for $c use of the knitting' Hm room, and to Miss Lee for M auditing the .books of the League.
