MARKET REPORT
MESSRS J. J. Jones, Auctioneers, City Market, Auckland, report as follows : — The market this week has been good, and a very large volume of business has been put through. Potatoes and onions are firmer. Swedes and pumpking are now in better demand. Owing to the weather the poultry market was not heavily supplied and values were firmer. The grain market is firm. We quote : — POULTRY Hens, good 3s 3d to 4s 3d' ordinary 2s 6d to 2s 9d ; roosters, prime 5s to 5s Bd, good 4s 6d to ss, smaller 2s to 2s 9d ; ducks, 3s 3d to 4s 6d; geese, 5s to 6s 6d; turkeys, gobblers 10s to 15s, hens 4s to 7s 9d. Pigs.—Weaners, 8s 6d"to 17s 9d, FARM PRODUCE Potatoes, Southern £8 15s to £10 10s ; kumeras, 7s 6d to 8s 9d; swedes, £4 to £4 10s ; pumpkins, £4 10s to £5 10s. GRAIN Maize, 6s 9d to 7s 6d ; oats, 5s 9d; chaff, Southern £10 10s to £12 10s; Algerian seed oats, 6s 3d; barley, 7s, FRUIT Apples, dessert 6s 6d to 9s 6d, cookers 5s to 7s 6d; pears, 8s 6d to 10s 9d ; lemons, prime 10s to lls, course and rough ss.
