A euchre and dance, promoted by the Catholic Church Committee, will be held in the Agricnlturai Hall on. Monday eAening next, and an enjoyable time is anticipated. \
One of a series-of entertainments under the auspices of the Church of England will be held in the Star Theatre to-night (Thursday) A fancy dance, pas de seul, will be given, also instrumental and vocal items by the best available talent. The short cozicert will end about 9 p.m., when dancing will be indulged in. Supper will be provided.
A remarkable by-product of the war is the American city—the population of which wili be more than 100,000—now in process of construction in the heart of France. Tlie great majority of its inhabitants will be civilians. This city will grow round the huge arsenal which the U.S, Ordnance Department is building. Several /thousand small dwellings will be erected to house the workers ; and the city will have its own police, fire, and health departments.
