HELENSVILLE TOWN BOARD.

THURSDAY, MAY 9TH, 1918

PRESENT Comrs. J. F. Lambert (chairman), H. Thompson, H. Graham, F. W. Strange. Jas. Stewart, H. Aitkenhead, and the clerk (Mr W. F. Raisher). MINUTES Minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE Outward correspondence was confirmed. LEAVE OF ABSENCE Leave of absence was granted to Cr. Becroft on account of sickness. DRAINAGE CHARGES. A letter was received from the Railway Department re water and drainage charges for station use. The Clerk was instructed to advise the Department that charges would be made in accordance with resolution passed on April 11, and as set out in previous letter from the Board. BRIDGE PLANS The claim for £2 2s from J. Simcock for preparing plans for decking Awaroa Creek Bridge was considered, and the Clerk was instructed to look into the matter and report to next meeting. STRIKING RATES In pursuance of notice of motion, the Chairman proposed and Cr. Aitkenhead seconded — That in terms of section 35 Town Board Act and its amendments thereto, the Board levy a general rate of Id in the £ on all rateable property on the valuation roll on 9th day of May 1918 ; and that in terms of section 35 Town Boards Act and its amendments thereto, the Board levy a hospital and charitable aid rate of 3-16ths of a penny in the £ on all rateable property on the valuation roll on 9th day of May 1918. These rates to cover period from Ist day of April, 1918, to 31st day of March, 1919.—Carried. THE LOAN Cr. Aitkenhead inquired .when the £1400 loan would be received. The Clerk informed the Board that the documents had gone forward to the State Department. Proposed by Cr. Aitkenhead, seconded by Cr. Strange —That a wire be sent to the Secretary, State Advances Department, asking him to expidite matters. — Carried.
