HELENSVILLE TOWN BOARD.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 20

PRESENT

Comrs. J. F. Lambert (chair-, man), H. Graham, F. W. Strange Jas. Stewart, H. Thompson, and the clerk (Mr W. F. Raisher). MINUTES Minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE Outward correspondence was I confirmed. WATER METERS A letter was read from the N.A Farmers' Co-op., Ltd., and on the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Cr. Strange, it was resolved — That permission be given to put drain across road and extend water supply, but meter must be provided at Co-op's, expense. FINANCIAL The Union Bank of Australia wrote re interest saving on Bank overdraft. Cr. Strange proposed and the Chairman seconded — That matters be referred to Mr Field, and if he reports satisfactorily, document be signed and returned to Union Bank. — Carried. FAULTY DRAIN A report from Mr, Fifield refaulty drain and stench was ordered to be received. DRAINAGE EXTENSION A report was received from Mr Fifield re application from Mesdames Donovan and Thomson. The Chairman proposed and Cr. Graham seconded —That members of the Board visit locality on Sunday, 24th inst., and report to next meeting. —Carried. RAILWAY MATTERS A letter was received from the District Engineer N.Z. Railways. The Chairman proposd and Cr. Thompson seconded —That the Clerk reply stating that the course suggested by the Department runs through private property. That the spot at present is unsightly, and the course suggested by the Board was the original, and was at one time connected by a totara culvert, and ask the Department to do as the Board requests. —Carried. AWAROA ROAD FORMATION A tender was received from J. Hunter for £149 for Awaroa Road formation. On the motion of Cr. Strange, seconded by Cr. Graham, it was resolved —That the Clerk wire to Engineer for copy of estimated cost, and if same is £10 either side tender be not accepted. The Chairman to act. 'BUS FARES J. F. Mitchell, Parakai. wrote re motor 'bus fares. It is was decided to reply that the Board has no jurisdiction over the matter. Cr. Strange proposed and Cr. Thompson seconded—That motor 'bus drivers be asked to furnish a scale of charges to the Beard at next meeting for their approval. —Carried, CLEARING RUSHES Mr D. Stewart wrote re clearing rushes from Railway Street. Cr. Graham proposed and Cr. Strange seconded — That the Board is unable to accede to request.—Carried. FIRE BRIGADE STATION The Chairman proposed and Cr. Graham seconded —That the erection of the Fire Brigade station be proceeded with at once. —Carried. OVERHANGING TREES Cr. Strange proposed and the Chairman seconded —That Messrs Bennett Ltd., be asked to lop the trees alongside their boundary to enable the road to get benefit of sun. NOTICE OF MOTION. Cr. Graham gave notice of motion to move at next meeting — That a system of tree-planting in the main street be inaugurated at once. ACCOUNTS Accounts amounting to £203 14s 4d were passed for payment.
