THE STAR THEATRE
■" Tho Gates of Eden "—
Viola Dana, in " The Gates of Eden," a five-reel Metro-Columbia production which will be the feature attraction at the Star Theatre on Saturday night, lends strength to a powerful screen story. Miss Dana ia seen in two roles, first as Evelyn, a scorned mother in a Shaker community, and next as Eve, her daughter. The play is particularly fitted to the talents of this young star, who is called upon in one part to depict the emotions of a broken-hearted mother, and in another the tender feelings of a pure girl whose great love defies religious fanaticism and the rage of a revengecrazed father. "The Gates of Eden" is a wonderful story of life in a Shaker community whose members have taken vows of celibacy, was written by the Rev. W. Danforth.
— "Youth's Endearing Charm"— Mary Miles Minter, in "Youth's Endearing Charm," is, the big attraction billed for Wednesday evening. It is a really splendid story told in the cleverest manner, and little Mary and her pup " Zippy," will win their way into the hearts of all. The spirit of youth and beauty permeate the picture, there is no artificiality about either plot or action, even the strongest dramatic scenes are remarkably convincing, and besides the brightness and charm of the story as a whole, there are many really exciting and thrilling moments. But it is the beauty—the pathos—the human touch that will appeal to all playgoers. The picture is said to be on a par with Mary Pickfdrd' big success "Rags."
