HELENSVILLE BRASS BAND.

To the Editor.

SIR, —Whilst travelling recently in Australia I was very much struck with . the position of the Brass Band at a place called the Burra, a town about the same size as Helensville, 100 miles north of Adelaide. The Band consisted of men, and the ladies of the town undertook to find a substitute as each man enlisted. By degrees all enlisted, and to-day the entire Band consists of ladies, who can give a meritorious performance. Is it possible for the Helensville girls to come to the rescue of our Town Band, now apparently " exempted sine die ", ? —I am, etc., John Carter. Helensville, 26-10-17.
