GIRLS OF THE NAVY LEAGUE

CONCERT AT HELENSVILLE

THE Lyric Theatre on Monday evening last was well filled with an appreciative audience, and a splendid performance was given by the Girls* Branch of the Navy League, who have been giving: concerts in and around Auckland for the past two years with great success. The proceeds on this occasion were divided between the Helensville Women's Patriotic League and the Girls' Branch of the Navy League; Besides the charge for admission, quite a large sum was collected during the flag song, "Whose Boys.

The stage was appropriately draped with blue, emblematic of the Royal Navy, while the nine young ladies who composed the company, were attired in neat seaside costumes. ,• . , v Mrs Burmester played the accompaniments, the dances were arranged by Miss Vera Maybee, and all the items were encored. Miss Maie Henderson, as a comedienne, delighted the audience with several songs, rendered in good style.

Misses Ivy Dennison, Ethel Hopkins, Millie Cotterall, Tui J? r 1. l 1 1, y.er' Elvy sy mes, and Myrtle Wilkinson contributed items in fine style.
