HELENSVILLE SCHOOL.
COMMITTEE MEETING,
THE monthly meeting; -of the above was held in the school room, on Tuesday evening last, when there were present: Messrs E. T. Field (Chairman), R. Smith, L. L. Bailey, W. W. L, Bradly, A. Skeltpn, F. R. Eames, and C. Thomson. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confimed. The principal business of the evening was in connection with the proposed High School for Helensville, and a large amount of correspondence on this subject was dealt with.. The Board of Education's replies to the Committee's application were entirely unsatisfactory, as .Helensville has the required number of proficiency pupils to entitle it to be granted a High School. However, no further steps can be taken in the matter for ..the present, though the correspondence will not be allowed to drop. The sum of £21 5s 10s is now in hand for the formation of a tennis court in the school ground, and the work is to be proceeded with shortly.
In connection with the proposed new swimming bath, several gentlemen have promised to assist in the construction. Mr Tilby has promised to convey 40 chains of shingle ; Mr Johnson to do the plumbing ; Mr Ryland to do the cement work ; Mr Hall has offered his labour;, and Mr Johnson (Technical School instructor) has kindly promised to prepare the plans and estimates fur the work.
