"SONS OF THE EMPIRE."
The fine series of war pictures " Sons of H~. the Empire," will be shown at the Lyric ; on Thursday, October 11th, at 2 p.m. and • 8 P,m. These pictures are being shown M throughout New Zealand by the V.M.C.4 I for the purpose of adding to the funds J for comforts for^fighting men, both those A who are fit and well, and those who are M suffering or recovering from wounds ~ri iB .sickness, The pictures cover: a very^B wide range of subjects. They show the British fleet in its present state of perpetual readiness for battle, and in ■ this section reveal a number of interesting features. In the numerous reels descriptive of the battle-front practically every branch of the service is shown and every arm-artillery, cavalry, infantry, flying corps, and engineers-is shown in: its special activity. There is thus presented a mass o f detail too wide even to catalogue and-making" fc the total a realistic depiction of the way an army fights to-day. In addition the spectator is given as comprehensive a picture as Possib c of an actual battle, with its great bombardment, its curtain of fire lakin T° c ' and itS achievement-.in taking the enemy's lines.
