BURMA'S CONTRIBUTION.
BURMA has made a splendid contribution to war funds,' raising three million rupees^whioh it sent on to the Secretary of State for India. In addition to this a Burma contingent of Europeans and Anglo-Indians _ was amo^g the first to sail for theWWestt t af.tqVbeginning of the war, and since'this' a double company, of Burmans has been raised and trained.' Now. the Burmese students, at Cambridge are trying to do their bit by' raising money for the V.M.C.A. Auxiliary Maintenance Fund, which, among other things, ,helps to finance ' the admirable: concert parties which Miss Lena AshwelV arranges at the front. The Burma Society recently staged for' this purpose a., play,, from ' Sheridan, "Captain Absolute's IKlemma,'1 the performance being ( g-ivei} ujader the patrqnage of the late .Yicer'oy of India, Lord Hardi nge- of Perishiirst.
