OBITUARY.

THE LATE MR JOHN McINTYftE

THE funeral of the late Mr John Mclntyre took place on Saturday afternoon last. The cortege left his late residence, Te Pua, at 2 p.m. for the Helensville Cemetery, and unfortunately a very heavy shower of rain was experienced, wetting everyone through. Part of the service, which was a most impressive one, was conducted by the Rev. L. J. Hodson in the Presbyterian Church, which was crowded. There was a large attendance of both farmers and townspeople, and being sin old veteran deceased was accorded a firing party composed of seven men and an officer of the Defence Rifle Corps, who fired three volleys at the graveside.

The late Mr John Mclntyre was born in Sterling,. Scotland, 67 years ago, and at the age of 16 came out to New Zealand, and later settled in this district. He was a member of the Auckland Volunteers in the early days, and always took a great interest in military affairs. At the present time three of his sons and one brother are fighting at the front. He was also a prominent member of the Presbyterian Church, and highly respected by all who knew him.

Deceased leaves a wife, four sons, four daughters, three brothers, two sisters, and a number of other relatives to mourn their loss.
