EUCHRE AND DANCE.

The first of a series of monthtly euchre socials in aid of the Catholhc Church funds,- was held in the Star Theatre on Monday evening last. There was a record attendance, and about eighty sat down to the card tables. Miss Farrell was the highest scorer among the ladies, while the gentlemen's prize was won by Mr W, Millward. Consolation prizes were awarded to Mrs Baker and Mr Morrison. .Light refreshments were handed round, and greatly appreciated. Mr McAnnally officiated as M.C., and the dance music was supplied by Miss M. Cullen, a most enjoyable evening being spent by one and all.

It is proposed to hold a similar social evening on Monday, September 10th, when the first prize for both ladies and gentlemen will be a handsome umbrella donated by the Rev. Father O'Doherty.
