It is seldom si motor car runs away, but such a thing happened in Helensville on Saturday night last. Just before the pictures started, a car was left outside the Star Theatre, and suddenly it was seen moving down Garfield Road, and dashed into the plate-glass window of the Lyric Theatre, making a large hole in it. What the driver of the car omitted to do, of course, we can only surmise, but the extent of the damage will be in the vicinity of .£25.
A " refresher" course of instruction was commenced at Narrow Neck Cam p on Saturday last by 24 offioers and 21 non-commissioned officers of the Territorials and Senior Cadets, in Auckland Military District. Mr John L. Stewart, who has recently been visiting Helensville, was present at the last Town Board meeting, and was welcomed by the members. After a discussion on the oattle traffic' through the town had taken place, Mr Stewart explained that in country districts in New Sputh Wales they had several ways of collecting revenue to help the up* keep of the streets. One was the levy of Id per head on all cattle driven through these towns. This information was considered valuable by some members of the Board, and in the near future action may be taken in the direction of placing a toll on cattle passing through Helensville:
