OLD COLONIST'S DEATH.

MR SAMUEL BROWN,

AN old colonist in the person of Mr Samuel Brown, died recently at his son's residence at Henderson. He arrived in New Zealand by the sailing ship William Miles, in, 1862, as one of the -Albertland settlers, but he decided to remain in Auckland. At one time he was messenger to Sir Julius Vogel, and later, to Dr Pollen. He then opened up a businss in Auckland as an ink manufacturer. Mr Brown was the fourth son of the late Joseph Brown, wool stapler, of Bradford, who was the first to introduce Australian wool into England. The late Mr Brown, who was 87 years of age, leaves two sons, two daughters, seven grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
