KAUKAPAKAPA
[OWN CORRESPONDENT]
A VERY popular railway official in the person of Mr Diamon has recently resigned his position as ganger on the permanent way. For the past seven years Ganger Diamond has been in charge of the difficult Kauohi - Makarau length, and has had a strenuous and anxious task in keeping this length in safe condition. His old gang and friends from Kau~ kapakapa, Kanohi, and Makarau met to give him a good send-off. Songs, games, and dancing served to pass the evening in a very pleasant manner. On behalf of their well-wishers, Mr Koller presented Mr and Mrs Diamond with a handsome breakfast service. The speaker referred to the wide esteem in which Mr and Mrs Diamond are held, and expressed the heartiest best wishes for their future welfare. Mr T. Geraghty, on behalf of the gang, eulogised Mr Diamond as a master , and as a faithful servant. Mr Diamond briefly responded, and thanked all for their kindly wishes and handsome present.
