WOMEN'S PATRIOTIC LEAGUE.

HELENSVILLE BRANCH

THE first annual meeting of the League was held on Friday, June 15th., Mrs Oxley presiding. The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted. Work has been going on steadily during the past year, and parcels have been forwarded to the Town Hall every month. The members have all worked very hard to make such a satisfactory report, •which included 276 pairs socks sent to the Town Hall, 30 pairs socks given to local boys (leaving for the front) both Parakai and Helsnsville, 38 pairs of mittens, 44 balaclava caps, 3 scarves and 3 belts. The senior girls of Helensville school have sent many parcels of exceedingly good work, containing amongst other articles 36 knitted face-cloths and 114 khaki handkerchiefs. Ninety-four sanitary shirts have also been made hy members, and parcels of clothing containing 181 different articles have been sent to soldiers' dependents ; 285 books have been sent for use on the transports. For Red Cross work the League sent one caee fancy articles, jam, sauce, fruit, and one case vegetabbles. also parcels of old linen, sheets, towels, tea towels, and pillow cases. The present officers were again reelected for the ensuing year, and the meeting concluded with 'iearty votes of thanks to Mrs Becroft for the use of her room during the year "or the knitting meeting, and Mr H.
