THE KAIPARA AND WAITEMATA WITH WHICH IS INCORPORATED "THE KAIPARA ADVERTISER & WAITEMATA CHRONICLE." HELENSVILLE. THURSDAY, April 5, 1917. MONSTER CARNIVAL AT HELENSVILLE.
I A HUGE programme is to be placed before the public on Easter Monday at the Helensville Show Grounds, and the Committee report that all arrangements are complete for a most successful day. There is only one thing wanting, that is fine weather. Then *'everything in the garden, will be lovely." The function is in aid of the Wounded Soldier's Fund, and will be under the patronage of the Highland National Reserve Unit of Auckland (the kilties). All the prizes will be paid out in trophies, and there are about 22 items to compete for. In addition to the programme published, there will also be a first and second prize awarded for the best tradesman's cart in the procession, which will leave the Railway Station at 10.30 a.m. Mrs Gunson, Mayoress of Auckland, will open the Carnival at about 12 noon. <- The Kilties are going to enliven the proceedings with a pipe band of 16 performers, and the Helensville Brass Band will also render some delightful music. The train running North will be delayed until 3 p.m., and the usual express train for Auckland will be delayed until 5.30 p.m., and will stop at all stations en Toute.
