THE TERRITORIALS.

CAMP AT HELENSVILLE

THERE are about 500 officers and men of the 15th (North Auckland) Regiment in camp at the back of the township, on Mr T. Elliott's property. The men are undergoing a course of compulsory training, which will continue till to morrow week, 9th March, It is the biggest camp ever held in this part of the district, and the men have been acquitting themselves in a very creditable manner indeed, notwithstanding the very bad weather which set in at the early stages of the training, and handicapped and ■_ retarded out-door work a good deal. The officer commanding is Lieut.-Colonel T. .H. Steajj^ and with him are the folloiflPW Major S. W. Turley (Staff) Adjutant. Captain Proctor (A Company)^ Lieutenants Cliffe (B Company), I Grant (C Company), and Airey (D Company). Lieutenants Irvine and Garry,Platoon Commanders. : Captain Crump, N.Z. Medical Corps. -y Chaplain-Captains H. Kemptojr and Johnson. Lieut. Gribble, Quartermaster. Sergt.-Major Butcher, Regimental Sergt.-Major. Sergt.-Major Brydon, Regimental Q.M.S. Sergt.-Major Stokes, and Sergts. Skeates and Cox, Staff Instructors. About 80 tents have been erected, and several big marquees are conspicuous, altogether making a fine sight to witness. The. V.M.C.A. are doing good work, giving facilities for the holding of services, concerts, games, boxing, etc. On Sunday afternoon last the ~ two picture theatres were thrown open for the free use of the men, which concession was greatly i appreciated, | The Hot Springs motor 'bus was kept very busy during Sunday afternoon, conveying the ; soldiers out to they Spring, and they all enjoyed themselvesimmensely. Both Pictures Theatre have: been showing nightly, and putting on excellent programmes. Needless to say, packed houses are the rule. A Church Parade will be .held at the Camp at 11 a.m. on Sunday next, and the public are cordially invited to attend. The Camp will be open all that day, and during the afternoon the Regimental Band will render a fint selection of m usic, The Helensviile Domain Board has issued an invitation to all officers and men now in camp to attend the baths, the date and time to be arranged by ..the officers in command.
