A BOWLER'S SEND OFF.
On Wednesday afternoon last, a verypleasant afternoon was spent on the Awaroa Bowling Green, the occasion being a send off by the members of the Club to their late, secretary, Sergt. G. Murphy, 22nd Reinforcements. About 30 persons were present, and several rinks were played, including a pairs match between Messrs Aitkenhead and R. Walters v. G. Murphy and H. W. Stringer, the latter winning by 22 points to 17, after a very keen contest.
Afterwards, in a neat little' speech Mr A. J. Hill, on behalf of the Club, townspeople, and different sports' clubs, presented the guest with a silver shavjng outfit: Sergt. Murphy suitably responded, and referred to the kindness received by him vyhilst in Helensville, a.nd his associations with the Club have heen most enjoyable. He left for Auckland by this morning's train ,and proceeds to camp on Saturday.
