Be in time to select the best, patriotic, etc. The Awaroa Bowling Club notify elsewhere, that they intend to have an official opening on Saturday next, 21st inst., at 2 p.m.; when all are invited to attend. Through an oversight of one of our comps. our article on " Mary Jane " in last week's issue, was not recognised as having been clipped from the Wairoa Bell. Owing to the late hour of starting, the Town Board meeting last Thursday, through the " farewell " to Capt. Coates, M.P., business was not over until past midnight. On Labour Day, Monday 23rd inst., the Post Office at Helensville will be open for business as usual in all branches. Only one delivery of correspondence by letter carrier will be made. An error crept into a par we published last week, regarding the date of the marriage of Miss Naomi Flynn to Mr Allen Shanks. The correct date should read Tuesday, October 24th inst. The third memorial service will be held in Stewart's Hall, 22nd October, at 2.30 p.m. Mr Aldridge will conduct the service. Voluntary offering to " Servian Relief Fund." Subject: " The War and the Phrophecy" At Upper Waiwera on Sunday next, at 2.30 p.m., a memorial service to the late Privates Thomas Hurley and James Jones, both killed in France, will be held. Military men and returned soldiers specially requested to attend. Afternoon tea will be provided for distant visitors. Rev. Lamond will conduct the service. We are going to have the pleasure of another visit of the Highland National Reserve, who are expected in Helensville on Saturday and will stay till the following Monday, taking part in the rifle shooting contests with the local corps. The men will be camped in Mr T. Elliott's paddock, at the back of the township. The Rev. A. V. Venables, vicar of the parochial district of Helensville, will commence his new duties by taking services at Tauhoa, Port Albert, and Wellsford on Sunday next. The vicar will be taking up his residence in Helensville next week, and will preach at all the services in St. Matthew's Church on Sunday, October 29th.
