MASONIC INSTALLATION.

On Tuesday last, 17th October inst., " the Duke of Albany Masonic Lodge held its annual installation meeting, when the installation of Bro. A. M. Hammond, and investiture of officers for the ensuing year took place. The W.M. elect was presented by two old P.M.s of the Lodge, namely W. Bro. A. J. Hill, P.D.J.G.D,, and W. Bro. G. H. Sellars, P.D.G.S.B. - Wor. Bro. W. H. Hammond, P.D.G.D.vgS .. C, acted as Installing Master, ass&dr*^by the Grand Lodge officers. The?p£? ,-^J senting Officers were : Wor. Bro. L. C. E. Hamann, W.M. Lodge Ponsonby, and Wor. Bro. F. E. F. Weir, D.G.Std. The following office-bearers were invested:: ; 1.P.M., W. Bro. F. Tucker; S.W., Bro R. Smith; J.W., Bro. T. W. Dwerry- / j house; Chaplain, Bro. THE BANQUET. The lodge business of the evening having concluded at about 8 p.m., an adjournment was made to the supper-roomW> '. of the Star Theatre, where a first-class " banquet was spread by Mr A.Becroft and i his assistants. Every delicacy in season was loaded upon the tables, which were appropriately decorated, and reflected -- ,' much credit on all concerned. Visitors x from sister lodges, Dargaville, Rodney, *! Whangarei, Auckland and elsewhere; ; besides, the District Grand Lodge officers, '■ including Wor. Bro. A. S. Bankard, R.W.D.G.M., numbered quite fifty, bringing up the total number which eat down ' to about 100, thus taxing the room to its utmost.
After the inner man had been thoroughly regaled, the following toast list was dealt with :—" The King and .the Craft," The W.M.; "The Grand Master," Wor. Bro. W. W. Daw, D.G. Sec—R.W. Bro; A. S. The harmony programme was a mpst enjoyable and select one, some of the items being quite up to " concert pitch," while the violin, banjo and piano selections were of the best, and recitations also filled in a gap now and again. On the whole, the functions of the evening were on a scale quite unprecedented in Helensville, and redound with credit to the local lodge and all concerned.
